WELCOME TO THE FILIPINO STUDENT SOCIETY OF USYD
FILIPINO STUDENT SOCIETY OFÂ USYD AT A GLANCE
Our Story
The Filipino Student Society of the University of Sydney (FSS USYD) was established in 2017 and is a registered club at the University of Sydney Union (USU) at The University of Sydney. From our humble beginnings, we have grown to have over 100 members in our society. We welcome any and all interested members - domestic or international, undergraduate or postgraduate, current student or alumni.

We aim to foster a sense of community among Filipinos at the University, promote an appreciation of Philippine culture, act as a support network for Filipino students, and to build and nurture a relationship between the University and other Filipino organisations or institutions.
WHAT WE DO
We hold a variety of events throughout the year to celebrate Filipino culture - from food, to music, to professional events, as well as going around the city. It's a fun and exciting way to meet new friends and fellow Filos!

SALUBONG (WELCOME EVENTS)
We have a once-a-semester tradition of welcoming students, new and old, to the society. It is often held soon after Welcome Week or Welcome Day.
Good food, good people!

FOOD EVENTS
Feeling homesick? Filosoc brings Pinoy food to Sydney! We've previously had lechon, halo-halo, and even traditional boodle fights.

FILOSOC'S GOT TALENT
This is our major semester 2 event, and highlight of the year, where we showcase the musical and artistic talent that our members have to offer.

KAPIHAN ("COFFEE TIME")
This is our flagship professional networking and community involvement event. We invite guest speakers to come together in a small group to discuss a broad range of topics.

OFF-CAMPUS EVENTS
There's so much to see in Sydney, and we know it! Join us for exciting events in this bustling city. Past events include going around the town during Vivid Sydney, karaoke nights, restaurant trips, and pub crawls.

GA'S, GM'S, AND AGM'S
Woah, that's a lot of acronyms! In short, these are important meetings for official duties such as electing new officers and making constitutional amendments. AGMs are super crucial, and are held every October - make sure you come along!
